JFK, La Guardia & Newark Terminals Among Worst In World

Three area airport terminals were cited as among the worst in the world yesterday with Kennedys Terminal 3 earning the dubious distinction as the most miserable layover location on the planet.

The former Pan Am terminal which now houses Delta Air Lines took home the dubious dishonor for its endless immigration lines, crummy food and shopping options, and dank environment, according to the travel Web site Frommers.

The terminal was in such shoddy shape that it was ranked three spots below Nairobis International Airport described by the site as a Third World construction site that travelers should avoid.

Fortunately for area fliers, Port Authority and Delta Air Lines are in the midst of a $1.2 billion renovation of Terminal 3, which is expected to be complete in 2013.

The bottom-10 list of the worst terminals includes two others in the New York area La Guardias US Airways Terminal and Newarks Terminal B, ranked at seventh and eighth, respectively.

The rundown La Guardia terminal earned low marks for being dull and sad.

Meanwhile, Newark Liberty Airports Terminal B home to international airlines like British Airways and Air France was knocked for its poor layout and lack of food and shopping choices.

  1. I beg to differ! I was just in EWR’s Terminal B & it wasn’t too bad at all. As for Useless Air’s terminal at LGA, its been about two years and that wasn’t too bad either.
