Coalition Talks With Chareidim Began On Sunday

Coalition talks between Likud negotiators and the chareidi parties began on Sunday, April 28, 2019. The factions met in Knesset on Sunday ahead of the start of talks at 6:30PM. Representing the Likud is Minister Yariv Levin.

Shas will be represented by team leader former minister Ariel Atias, who will be joined by incoming MK and attorney, Moshe Arbel (number 7 on the party list), Shas’ legal advisor, attorney Yisrael Bach, and strategic advisor Avi Lerner.

Representing Yahadut Hatorah will be four MKs: Yaakov Litzman, Moshe Gafne, Meir Porush and Uri Maklev. It is expected others will join them before official coalition talks begin.

One is reminded the chareidi parties decided not to participate in coalition negotiations during Chol Hamoed Pesach.

Both Shas and Yahadut Hatorah have eight seats and together, the chareidi parties represent significant power in the incoming administration.
