A Jewish souvenir shop in Prague was defaced with anti-Israel and antisemitic graffiti for the third time in a month, with the suspect also caught on camera urinating on the storefront.
Security footage from the Jewish E-Shop shows a man in a sombrero spray-painting the shop’s facade early Tuesday morning. He scrawled the word “fascists” multiple times on the windows and walls before climbing onto the windowsill to continue defacing the property. Photographs posted on social media show the phrase “Holocaust 2025” written in large letters beneath the display window.
After urinating on the storefront, the vandal resumed painting slogans, pausing only to duck out of sight from passing cars. Graffiti on the glass also included “[Expletive] Nazi.”
The same man is believed to have carried out two earlier attacks on the shop, on July 31 and August 10. Those incidents included slogans such as “Free Palestine” and “Benjamin Hitler.”
“This has a clear antisemitic background,” said Pavel Král, chairman of the Jewish Community of Prague. He warned that while the Czech Republic has generally been safer for Jews than many other European nations, the country has not been spared the surge in antisemitic incidents since the October 7 Hamas massacre in Israel.
Král said the Jewish community is working closely with authorities. “We are in ongoing cooperation with politicians at all levels, as well as with public authorities and the police. At the same time, we actively support initiatives aimed at countering the most common antisemitic myths and prejudices,” he said.
