US President Donald Trump says that Israel would lose “all support” from the United States if it tried to move ahead with annexing the West Bank.
In an October 15 Time magazine interview about the US-brokered ceasefire, published today, Trump is asked about those in the Israeli coalition pushing to annex all or parts of the West Bank.
“It won’t happen. It won’t happen. It won’t happen because I gave my word to the Arab countries,” Trump says. “And you can’t do that now. We’ve had great Arab support. It won’t happen because I gave my word to the Arab countries. It will not happen. Israel would lose all of its support from the United States if that happened.”

Goldknopf and the Agudah delegation voted in favor of annexation yesterday. They publicly shamed VP Vance and needlessly picked a fight with the Trump administration. As frum yidden we must demand accountability from those that ask for out votes. This travesty cannot be ignored.
“You can’t do that now” – because you should have done it BEFORE. You waited too long.
The position of the Medinah is similar to the Hashmonian’s “kingdom” after they came to rely on the Romans. Fortunately, the Americans have no desire to make Israeli into a de jure territory – they merely want to control it in terms of economics and politics (and we should assume that the next Democratic will want to install “freedom from religion”, among other things). That’s the price Israel pays for becoming a de facto American protectorate. You accept aid, you give up your independence.
It probably is good for the frum community that Israel doesn’t annex the West Bank and Gaza, since that would meaning allowing all Palestinians (not just those living inside the “green” line) to vote, and would radically move Israel to the left on many issues. And unlike “Israeli Arabs” (about half of whom support the medinah, with many serving in the army), all the Palestinians in the West Bank in Gaza would be very anti-zionist, and would support the of a Palestine that “From the River to the Sea is Free of Jews”.
