Saudi Arabia is reportedly discussing a regional non-aggression pact involving Iran as part of wider efforts to ease Middle East tensions following the U.S.-Israeli war, the Financial Times reports.
The proposal is said to be modeled in part on the 1975 Helsinki Accords, with backing from European governments and EU institutions as a framework for regional security cooperation and conflict prevention.
Diplomats told the FT the initiative could offer Iran assurances against future attacks, though uncertainty remains over whether Israel would be included in any future agreement.
