The IDF carried out a strike in the Hezbollah stronghold of Dahiya in Beirut on Sunday for the first time since President Trump announced the renewal of the ceasefire last week.
The attack came in response to the rockets Hezbollah launched at Israel earlier on Sunday.
The Saudi Al-Hadath media channel reported that Israel notified the US ahead of the strike.
The Prime Minister’s Office said shortly afterward: “In accordance with the instructions of Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Katz, the IDF struck Hezbollah command centers in Beirut’s Dahiyeh district in response to Hezbollah’s fire toward Israel.”
Iran warned last week that an Israeli strike in Beirut would be met with an attack on Israeli cities and bring an end to the “negotiations” being held between Iran and the United States.
However, Trump said in a recent interview that he is not demanding a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon as part of a US-Iran deal.
