Iran announced on Monday that it is halting its attacks on Israel, while simultaneously warning that any continued Israeli military action โ particularly in southern Lebanon โ could trigger a renewed and far more severe response.
In a statement carried by Iranian state media, Khatam al-Anbiya, Iranโs emergency military command, declared that the โcessation of armed forces operations is announced.โ
The statement, however, stopped short of signaling any broader de-escalation, warning that Iran remains prepared to respond forcefully if it believes Israeli military operations continue.
โHowever, it is emphasized that if the aggression and acts of malice continue, including in southern Lebanon, much more severe and crushing measures than before will be forthcoming,โ the statement said.
The announcement comes after Iran launched missiles toward Israel earlier in the day, marking the first direct Iranian attack on Israel in approximately two months. The missile fire triggered air raid sirens across parts of northern Israel and prompted retaliatory Israeli strikes against military targets inside Iran.
Israeli officials have not publicly commented on Iranโs latest declaration.
