Amit Segal, Channel 12’s senior political analyst, slammed the “disgusting double standard” in police conduct toward protesters following the shocking police abuse against Peleg Yerushalmi protesters on Wednesday morning.

Segal began by emphasizing that he is opposed to the actions of Peleg Yerushalmi. “Peleg Yerushalim is an extremist and fanatical cult, and blocking roads is a thuggish, criminal act of thuggery that has somehow become normalized here,” Segal wrote. “But police enforcement cannot be carried out based on hatred.”

“Police violence directed at one group of lawbreakers but not another is improper selective enforcement. We all know what would have happened if such violence had been directed at the Kaplan protesters.”

Segal also slammed the media and politicians, saying that “the lack of media coverage regarding this disparity is no less disgusting.”

“A disgusting double standard in enforcement, media coverage, and public reactions,” Segal summarized. “Nothing about it is objective.”

Segal also took aim at Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara, writing: “The Attorney General, who once showed such concern for preserving effective protest even when it disrupted public order, should try imagining that this violence was directed at opponents of the judicial reform rather than opponents of the draft. Maybe then we would hear something from her.”

Right-wing activist Berela Crombie wrote: “The Israel Police is a criminal police force. There’s no way to whitewash it. A police force in which officers sadistically abuse Chareidi protesters with batons, after allowing Kaplanists to block the entire country for three years, is a criminal organization—not a law enforcement organization.”
