Brig. Gen. (res.) Yossi Sariel, who commanded the IDF’s elite Unit 8200 during the October 7, 2023 Hamas massacre, has launched a new artificial intelligence company that is already pursuing business with Israeli government agencies, according to a report by Globes.
The company, Alma Labs, was registered in February 2026, shortly after Sariel retired from the IDF following nearly three decades of military service.
Corporate records show Sariel and his business partner, Uri David Alter, each own 48.2% of the company and serve as directors. According to sources cited in the report, Alma Labs has already begun discussions with multiple government offices and could eventually become an exclusive supplier in some of its areas of expertise.
The company was established before Sariel’s appointment to the board of AI startup Decart AI became public. He is expected to continue serving in that role while also leading Alma Labs as CEO.
Alma Labs’ newly launched website says the company develops AI education platforms for middle school students, along with training tools for teachers and educational institutions. It is currently marketing its services to schools, municipalities, and educational networks ahead of the 2026-2027 school year.
The report notes that Michal Duvdevani Messika owns approximately 2.5% of the company.
Alma Labs did not respond to a request for comment.
