SINKHOLE SCARE IN BNEI BRAK: Shuttle Van Trapped After Road Collapses

A dramatic incident unfolded Tuesday afternoon in the heart of Bnei Brak when a shuttle van became trapped in a sinkhole that suddenly opened on Chaggai Street.

The driver, identified as Eliran, said he was sitting in traffic at around 2:00 p.m. when he suddenly felt the vehicle begin to sink. Moments later, he realized the road beneath the van had collapsed, leaving the front portion of the vehicle stuck inside what he estimated was a two-meter-deep sinkhole.

“There was traffic, and suddenly I noticed the vehicle sinking,” the driver told local media. “I called the municipality and the police, but nobody came to help. I was left waiting with the vehicle stuck in the hole.”

The incident caused traffic disruptions in the area, though no injuries were reported. The shuttle van remained trapped as the driver awaited assistance.

Following media inquiries, crews from Bnei Brak’s Infrastructure Department arrived at the scene, removed the vehicle from the sinkhole, and secured the area with safety barriers.

Municipal officials said the sinkhole is being treated and that professional teams continue to investigate and repair the damaged roadway.
