Noted Askan Shlomo Yehuda Rechnitz Came to Israel to Strengthen Chareidi Political Parties

rd

The Charedi media in Eretz Yisrael has been reporting that philanthropist Shlomo Yehuda Rechnitz arrived earlier this week with a small entourage of close associates to negotiate Achdus in the Charedi political camp.

YWN – ISRAEL has been monitoring the visit and the events that let up to it, and is now able to share the facts with the Tzibbur at large.

As the Oilam Hayeshivos eagerly await the outcome of the future elections, the Chareidim understand the importance of their own parties accumulating the most possible seats in the new upcoming Government. The recent sudden resignation of Aryeh Deri dealt a big blow to the Chareidi Shas party. If Shas’s numbers were to greatly diminish R’L, the ramifications to the Oilam Hatorah would be devastating. This comes on the heels of the outgoing 19th Government and its harsh Gezeiros against Yeshivos and Kollelim throughout Eretz Yisrael.

Realizing this, and out of great concern, the Novominsker Rebbe SHLITA, Yoshev Rosh of Agudas Yisroel of America, as well as various other Gedolim asked Shlomo Yehuda Rechnitz to go to Eretz Yisrael to intercede and convince Aryeh Deri to return to Shas to restrengthen them.

The Novominsker’s request was followed by a letter and phone call to Shlomo Yehuda from HaGaon HaRav Shmuel Kaminetzsky Shlita, a member of the Moetzas Gedolei Yisrael in the USA and Rosh Yeshiva of Philadelphia.

Shlomo Yehuda complied, on the condition that he receive permission from Hagaon Harav Aron Leib Shteinman Shlita, which he received that evening. He was hesitant as to what he could accomplish, since he told the gedolim that even though he supports Sefardi Mosdos in the U.S. and Eretz Yisrael, he has never met with Deri, had no connection to him and was never involved with the Shas party.

Undeterred and armed with Berachos from the Roshei Yeshiva, Rechnitz arranged for close associates Zvi Weinreb, Moshe Mendlowitz, Duvy Blonder and Yisroel Friedman to accompany him on this important Shlichus.

Shlomo Yehuda first headed to Bnei Brak where he met with Maran HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita for two hours, seeking the gadol hador’s advice in tackling a problem that Shas Rabbonim seem to have been unsuccessful in solving.

The necessary calls were made and Aryeh Deri agreed to come to meet with Mr. Rechnitz in his hotel. This alone was no small feat, as since announcing his resignation as Shas leader, Deri has refused to meet with anyone or speak to the media. Accompanied by his wife Mrs. Yafeh Deri, they met with Rechnitz and his associates for a short period to get comfortable with each other. Then Mrs. Deri and the Rechnitz team exited the room, and Shlomo Yehuda and Aryeh Deri sat with one another and hammered out the issues for three hours.

It should be pointed out that in addition to Rav Shteinman, Rechnitz has met with other gedolim in Eretz Yisrael as he strives to complete his mission and bring back a successful report to the gedolim shlita in the United States.

Following that first meeting, Rechnitz and Deri met again on Wednesday, 16 Teves, once again for three hours at the home of Aryeh Deri. Sources tell YWN that Rechnitz literally debated and pleaded with Deri to make the correct and necessary moves to save the chareidi tzibur in Eretz Yisrael.

As he exited the room, Deri was quoted as saying “Even if nothing else comes of this, I acquired a great friend, yet someone I wouldn’t want sitting across the aisle”

We now eagerly await Deri’s response, which will undoubtedly have a profound impact on the role played by chareidi political parties in the 20th Knesset.

As a Bochur, Rechnitz 43 years old, learned in Mir Yerushalayim. In 1998, he incorporated TwinMed, LLC in Los Angeles with his twin brother, Yisroel Zev. Until today, they work and contribute Tzedaka together.

  1. People hate deri for a few reasons but people also need to understand that the charedi world needs him a lot, yishai is a very nice man but he’s not as capable to get things going as deri, people in America maybe dont understand how much the charedi world in israel relies on the government you can say it’s not a good thing but it’s a fact, to get the laws turn around for the charedi zibur they need someone like deri there’s not much people around like deri (not his good and not his bad)

  2. As if this guy who no one has ever heard of 1 year ago is gona sway deri. Deri is politician in this whole thing is a ploy, people will begging to come back and then it will make him stronger. Tell this askin to find something todo

  3. If they really care about what happens in Eretz Yisrael, let their feet do the talking. They should come and strengthen the rest of the Jewish people with their presence (not their advise) and cast their own vote.

  4. please explain , whats wrong with having another party. there so many now among the frum people , so lets have one more. why should you have a party and not me.

second , action speaks louder then words. combine all the frum parties and have one and then lets talk.

  5. What a selfless person this Mr. Rechnitz. As always sooo sincere with such a soft heart for another yid and klal yisroel. May hashem give him only happiness and koach and all the requirements to continue his great work. (and iy’h he should be an encouragement for others to follow in his footsteps.)

  6. That’s it??!! get Deri to head SHAS again??!! That is called making peace???!!

Did Reb Shlomo meet with Eli Yishai????!!! Rabbi Mazuz!!??? seems a bit one-sided.

When Aharon Hakohen make peace … He went from one side to the other to talk, encourage and build a treaty. Who is making peace with who here?? This doesn’t bring ACHDUT to the Olam Hatorah by having Deri crowned ” King SHAS”! Please explain!!

  7. R’ Shteinman allegedly told a bochur to make aliyah so he could vote in Israeli elections. I wonder why he didn’t tell Rechnitz to do the same thing?

  8. R.Rechnitz is good. However, my advice to him is to stay away from all current chareidi politicians in eretz yisrael like one would from ebola. The problem he is trying to patch up is merely symptomatic of many major problems with in chareidi society today. With no one willing to publicly confront or even acknowledge these issues, why invest effort in trying to revive the protagonists of the previous 20years of mistakes? What is needed here is a leader with vision who can bring the Torah world forward, not mired in battles from 50 years ago.

  9. Not to be chutzpadik but, if the Novominsker Rebbe, shlita who is Yoshev Rosh of Agudas Yisroel of America, why is it that Rav Perlow sent a shaliach to do something that is supposed to be so earth-shaking that it will affect the entire Israeli charedi community but yet he won’t do it himself? If Rav Yaakov Perlow would have come and spoken directly to Hagaon Harav Aron Leib Shteinman, shlita at least it’s two Gedolim discussing the matter not a pashoot philanthropist. This is the same scenario that occurred a week before involving the Belzer Rebbe who sent R’ Glazer to talk to Rav Moshe Shlomo Amar, shlita about this same situation. Rav Shmuel Kaminetsky, shlita could have personally come to Eretz Yisrael and attended to this matter directly considering it is such a dire necessity that Deri, the charlatan, be the head of Shas. There’s no Sakanat Nefashot of the Shas party as there are other equally qualified and forceful people that can take over that don’t have multiple negatisims hanging over their heads. Why is everyone thinking that the world collapse around all of the chareidim if Deri doesn’t head Shas? Why aren’t these Gedolim as concerned with how the entire Sephardic and world Jewry look at this whole fiasco? Here we have the Belzer Rebbe, shlita ; Noviminsker Rebbe, shlita; and Reb Shmuel Kaminetsky, shlita; all running to reinstate a known felon, a charlatan, a person who signed the Oslo agreement behind Chacham Ovadia’s back, a tape that purposely recorded so as to protect the Shas party from the likes of Deri as it disclosed Chacham Ovadia screaming at Deri. All of you seem to ignore all of these factors and are sweeping them all under the rug. Yes, Deri did get things done but it also ended him into prison for fraud and other felonies. Yishai on the other hand, was Chacham Ovadia’s right and left hands and did all of the Rav’s bidding, did things straight and now all of you are just going to ignore him as though he doesn’t exist? The only reason why Deri was successful is because Chacham Ovadia was still alive and not because of Deri’s shenanigans. Would all of you like to see another sell out where parts of Eretz Yisrael are negotiated for nothing in return? Well, put Deri back into his old position and you will see the return of the same schtik. There is no honesty amongst thieves but I guess none of you ever learned that in your gemara shiurim? Politics is dirty enough that you don’t need to put in someone that is even dirtier. None of you are willing confront Deri and ask him straight out what caused him to lean to the left, why is that? You are all willing to unleash once again a very deadly bacterial infection within your group and taking your chances that you will have the immunity to be ward off the infection. Deri is worse than Yetzer HaRa, he has better tricks up his sleeves that you’ve yet to see played.

  10. After he makes peace with Shas please have him flown to NYC to make peace between the NYPD and deblasio. after he does that maybe he can speak to my wife and convince her to let me come back in the house.

  11. He’s such a good soul and puts his money where his heart is for Klal Yisroel and Torah interests.
However, unless someone is deep into Israeli politics -both National and Chareidi- for 20-30 years, he won’t understand the mechanics and could cause more trouble by mixing in.
I only hope that he takes proper and sage advice not only from the Gedolim but also from seasoned political experts, so he doesn’t get his fingers burnt.

  12. #12 Gedolim always sent shluchim to iron out differences and besides the gedolim dont have the koach to go to E”y-they are older and need to save their kochos

  13. Chazak! About time someone stands up for “Darkay Shalom”

…hope he is successful in restoring peace to the Charedi Political Parties.

  14. Rechnitz should have spent 1 fare for a subway ride to Williamsburg to implore the Satmar Rebbe to order his followers to vote to strengthen “frum representation” in the next Knesset.

  15. @boss1990 your overwelming jealousy is pouring out of your words….your comments are better off left to yourself.
