I need to buy a few air condition units. The ones I currently have take too long to cool off the room and make too much noise.Which brand/model do you suggest I replace them with?

My advise, friedrich is one of the best and I believe almost all modals work with a shabbos clock, whatever u do purchase stay away from fridgadaire
We have a Frigidaire. It is a 15000 BTU, which is the highest BTU you can get in a 110 volt unit. Not super quiet, but I don’t have a problem with it. Also, Frigidaire is, I believe, good in terms of service.
Please note: it’s important to make sure that you get the correct BTU for the room you are trying to cool. Room dimensions, as well as type of room (dining, bedroom), as well as floor the room is on (heat rises – attics tend to get HOT) all figure in. Don’t buy an air conditioner blindly – you’ll regret it.
I sold a few air conditioners in my time, so boruch HaShem I remember a few points . . .
I have a Friedrich 22,000BTU. Runs on 220. Loud like a motorcycle but holy moly its like an ice box in my house and I couldn’t be happier!!!
Does anyone know which units in the 7000 9000 range have an auto restart after power interuption so they will work with Shabbos clock?
Just keep trying units from the Wal-Mart 14 day gemach until you find the one you want! By the time you’re done trying them summer will be over!
Yaakov -What do you need that feature for? The Sharp AF 8,000 BTU, Fridgidaire also these BTU have built-in timers. The Fedders models have built in 24 hr. timers, so you don’t need a power interup restart!
We use the Shabbos clocks to turn the units on a few times daily on Shabbos. The built ins don’t allow more than one cycle.

I did a net search, which you can too. There are models that are 7 day programable which allow 4 on/off cycles per day. There are also many models which have the auto restart. Just be aware the more features a unit has -the more it costs.
Why dont you speak to a professional. Go into AJ Madison or the Buzz and ask their AC Specialist. They have experience with ACs and they would know shabbos modes etc…

The “split ductless” units you describe are in many yeshivas and shuls.
Why don’t you see one there and decide if you like it?
The advice “emlf” gave is spot-on.
You need to know what your requirements are; room size, sun exposure, under a roof, flat roof, etc. – otherwise it’s like buying clothes without knowing the person’s size or even if it’s for a man or a woman.
