the chosson and kallah can forever relive the event but they are always in the way- i know what you mean especially at the chuppa. I think they dont really get to enjoy the night being that they are so emotionally charged but when they look at the pics its nice for them

I’ve seen many good photogs who do NOT “get in the way”.

Though I don’t really see the premise of the question…

The good ones DON’T get in the way. And Goq, 23 years. Looked at the video last year. Looked at the album last month.

there is a story by Rabbi Emanuel Feldman on how he once refused to move from his position under the chuppah so the photographer could get a good shot of the chosson putting the ring on the kallahs finger. That is what I mean by in the way.

34 years, and thank G-D for the movies and pictures. I virtually have no memory of the wedding. Everything was a blur to me. I only remember that it was beautiful. The pics make it real again.

for sure necessary, i just don’t like it when there is a man photographer and he’s trying to get a good pic while there are tons of ladies squishing him all around! 🙁

There wouldn’t be a problem if photographers knew their boundaries! Though photographers may sometimes be annoying, I do believe in the saying “a picture is worth a thousand words”

At my wedding I asked for a female video-lady for the women’s section.

She brought along a guy to help her with the equipment.

You just can’t win all the battles.

Also videographers. For my bar mitzvah seudah, one of my teachers says “are you taping me while I’m eating???!). We had that taken out of the video.

Sender Av, that’s actually pretty funny

I’ve seen worse, like the person who was videoed as he cleaned his nose…

DERECH, sorry to hear you lost that battle. I know someone who lost a battle with cancer.

How is it even permissable for a man to be in the woman’s section when they are dancing, looking at them dance and photographing/video-graphing the women??? And how are those woman even able to dance in front of him???

Pac-Man, Most men aren’t actually IN the woman’s section. They usually stand by the mechitza alternating between videoing the men and women.

Another name: I was referring to the male photographers, not most men. And unfortunately many of them actually go into the ezras noshim. But even if they only “looked” from above the mechitza, that doesn’t alleviate the problem.

Pac-Man, I meant male photographers, but you are right, even if most don’t it’s still inappropriate for men to be watching women dancing…

What do you suggest be done to resolve it?

That no male photographer be in, or look in, to the women’s section. Get female photographers. (And in the unlikely event that is not possible, that doesn’t excuse the alternative.)

Additionally, I don’t even understand how videos can be taken of women dancing (or on the same token how any woman can dance in front of a video camera.) Does anyone really believe no men will view those videos? The male video editors will, the Choson will, the family will, and friends will.

My husband and I look at our wedding album together every year on our anniversary. It’s just that it’s become a bit sad because so many people in that album are no longer with us.
