Commando Cops Raid Chareidi Apts in Beit Shemesh

raidActing on a tip Yassam commando police took part in a Tuesday evening Election Day raid on two apartments on Ohr Somayach Street in the Kirya Chareidis in Beit Shemesh. Police found over 200 forged teudat zehut identity cards intended for use in the elections. Eight persons were arrested, all affiliated with a local chassidus and aligned with the Koach list in the city.

Police add they uncovered a forgery operation in which the ID cards were manufactured. They are now working with election officials to ascertain how many forged IDs have been used to vote.

Koach (כח) officials deny any connection with the forged documents.

  1. This is why many modern and daati people I know are moving out of Beit Shemesh and others are no longer considering buying a home there.

Beis Shemesh is increasingly becoming a vast majority Chareidi town.

  2. I can certainly see why they would need commandos with machine guns to confiscate forged documents from chareidim. I guess it’s easier to harm Jews that way. Like in Europe. Plus ca change, plus c’est la meme chose.

  3. What a misleading headline. It makes no mention of the crime – which is what the story should be about – and gives the impression of some arbitrary brutal police action against innocent charedim. And I suspect that the picture of Yasamnikim in full battle gear was not taken on the scene but was added to strengthen the misleading impression given by the headline.
