Not only is this point not in favor of Murex techeiles, it is a tremendous kashya on it. As I so aptly wrote earlier in this thread:

“The gemara gives chemical tests that can distinguish between real techeiles and kala ilan. Now if they were chemically identical then no test would be able to distinguish between them.”
