maran – I don’t think it’s that they don’t celebrate bas mitzvahs, I think it’s that they don’t throw as extravagant a party for a bas mitzvah as they might for a barmi. A lot just have a small party for close family and friends. Personally, I don’t think either a bas mitzvah or a bar mitzvah has to be as over the top as some of the celebrations I have seen. But each to their own, as they say.
