for you i’ll even darshen a bit: it’s a bad combination when you have a kid with brains and a rebbe who is lacking in that area. now if the kid is smart and the rebbe is also, it’s ok. if they’re both dumb, it’s fine. goes without saying that if the kid is dumb and the rebbe is smart, the kid will be valedictorian and is the biggest masmid on earth.
