What helps to wake up and improve ourselves is for each of us to figure out what one needs to work on, and then make a continuous effort to do so. If we’re not sure, then we should ask Hashem to help us figure it out. Whether it’s bein Makom, or bein chaveiro, we need to do both. Rabbi Lipschutz mentions it beautifully in an article on Parshas Balak, about our mission to remain the Holy people that we are meant to be. Of course, we all slip, but we can still stand back up.
