When I am busy making the dough and before I am mafrishas challah, I first ask Hashem to give me Siyata D’Shmaya (I am serious) in making the dough into truly delicious challah that will enhance our Shabbos and be filled with bracha. I daven for my family, friends, and then a general tefila for E”Y and Klal Yisroel. Then I take challah and it infuses me with a strong emotional connection to the mitzvah. It’s an amazing feeling when I make the challah in this mindset. So far, so good.
