Bottom line- there does seem to be a real deoraysah mekor for married women covering their hair (From vegilcha es rosha in Parshas Naso). The only question is at what point are they married- chuppah, yichud, or a later stage. There is a clear mekor to be machmir that after the chuppah or yichud one is a nesuah, although many are meikel. Makeup is a new chumra with a much more opaque mekor, if any.
