yekke2: My remarks were directed at the wish to write out of the jewish klal anyone who ever sins. And, yes, even a person who keeps very few mitzvos should never be excluded from klal yisroel. You may not call him “religious” but he is still part of the klal. Same with the government- even if it has failed to advance all of the halachic needs of the country-it still is a Jewish govt and should be treated as such, warts and all.
