The whole RLUIPA doesn’t make sense. Towns and cities have zoning laws for a reason, “They don’t want their town to turn into Lakewood,” and there’s no reason why every town should have to accommodate religion institutions that don’t satisfy their requirements. The law borders on unconstitutional and is definitely discriminatory.
From a tactical standpoint, the Yeshiva should forgo their right to open there and save religious freedom for more important matters. Suing Ocean County now will only fester anti-Semitism and wariness over “Jews taking over”.
