Kollel families are likely to qualify for Medicaid. The typical Obamacare policy requires a large upfront cash payment and doesn’t help unless you have a major illness. This means that one is forced to by insurance that one doesn’t use, and probably doesn’t need (remember that many people will become eligible for Medicaid if they become sick enough to lose their incomes).
