Regardless of whether or not there are more tragedies now than there were a few hundred years ago (which can probably be debated forever since it would be hard to prove one way or another), whenever there are tragedies, we are not supposed to take it for granted and say that it’s always been like this; we are supposed to take it as a wake-up call and see what we can do to improve. That is what they did hundreds of years ago, and that is what we are supposed to do now.
