LB, it’s not about the CR being unpleasant. My job as a mod is to keep this room free of things that are not halachically appropriate or are spiritually unhealthy. When people spend time in places devoid of Torah and soak up the culture (which is NOT our culture) and then proceed to spill it over into other places, such as here, it presents a problem. If I had started deleting or editing the +1s, I am sure I would have been accused of all sorts of censorship and other things. However it is an old argument. People have become so accustomed to things that were never acceptable that they can’t understand what is wrong with them anymore. There are times that the only way to stop the worser things is by putting a foot down on the more benign things. This isn’t about my honor, this isn’t about me at all.
It is not always clear which benign things are truly benign and which things are deceptively appearing to be benign. But as far as I’m concerned, there is nothing benign about facebook and it is not a door I wish to open. Whether or not you know people who use it appropriately is not the point. We do not mod for individuals here, we mod for the rov.
