A “Chaver” is a very important distinction in the context of Trumos and Massros as well as tumah. Possibly (l’fi aniyas dyti), Rebbi used the same term elsewhere:
(i) for uniformity;
(ii) because if its not a chaver there may be issues like bechor, maaser etc…;
(iii) it was used as that would be whom a person would be doing business with; or
(iv) its pleasant to use a term of endearment as we should think of our business associates and interactions as being among friends (e.g., trust, honesty).
