Halachicly there’s no absolute Halacha that men and women have to be separated altogether on pubic transportation. So why aren’t you demanding that the private Jewish buses stop the separation completely?

The answer is that it is a geder to separate them. And when it comes to issues of men and women, Halacha specifically tells us to add more gedorim in this area. And far better to have the men looking ahead at the driver for the 7 hour commute to Montreal (or three hour commute to the Catskills or two hour commute to Lakewood) than for the men to be seeing a bunch of women every time they’re looking up.
