I certainly do consider that possibility, though neither side of this debate is necessarily more “very real and strong” than the other. When (young?) children are included in “all parties”, things get even more complicated.
As others noted, it may come down to the frequency, degree and longevity of “bad shape” in a marriage. I think some of the dispute in this thread is in not analyzing/comparing like cases, but cases of radically different levels of conflict.
