Reply To: Poor People Don’t Get to Have a Rav in the Summer

I don’t live in Brooklyn, but most of the rabbis in my community (including all the rabbis at the shuls at which I regularly daven) are working at camps in the summer. Perhaps this relates to that other topic about rebbes getting full-time salaries, since all these rabbis are part-timers whose primary job is in chinuch. During the week it’s not a problem since they can be reached by phone. It becomes something of a problem if you have a shailah on Shabbos.
