Toi: This week’s issue of Lehovin had a picture of Rav Chaim shlita and news from him.A few weeks ago it had the same about Rav Aharon Leib zt’l. These are just two of many examples. You’re completely incorrect about it being limited to only certain rabbonim.
And my earlier point about Rav Aharon shlita is accurate. When Peleg split from Degel there was a movement among American rabbonim to take one side regarding the dispute in Israel. Rav Ahron singlehandedly insured that the American Gedolim did not take any sides and continued honoring both sides in Israel as Gedolei Yisroel. It is almost an exact replica of what IITFT related regarding the story of Rav Pam zt’l having insured the American Gedolim didn’t take a side when the Degel rabbonim broke off from the Agudah and formed their own Moetzes, newspaper and political party. In both cases (decades ago during Rav Pam’s time and a few years ago under Rav Aharon) those pushing to take one side wanted to side with Degel. And both times, in the end, the Gedolim in chutz l’aaretz continued to equally honor both sides in the disagreement in Eretz Yisroel without siding with one over the other.
