“Are colored shirts okay for Shabbos?” Is there an inyan to specifically wear white on shabbos? If there is, then that would answer why not.
“Are shorts okay instead of full length pants?” I wouldnt swim in full length pants.
“Are white sneakers okay instead of black shoes?” If I was playing basketball I would wear white sneakers over any color shoes, every time.
