I’m bothered by it. But I recognize that there’s little I can do. So I try my best. Most of my browsing is on incognito mode. I don’t use my real name on any social media. I buy from a variety of online and brick+mortar retailers. I never use store credit cards.
Basically, as long as you’re happy living like it’s 1998, you have nothing to worry about.”
Ya so heres the thing my friend. Incognito mode and the like actually attracts more attention than using the regular browsing mode. Its sure to put you on a surveillance list. And even all these private browsing methods and settings such as ” do not send feedback” usually are useless as google and facebook have been caught still collecting private info no matter what.
You dont use your real name on social media? Great going except for the fact that im sure you have photos, friends, and conversations where people either tag you in a photo using your real name, or much more than your name gets collected in various chats, posts, pictures, videos, voice messages and so on. Just because you forget about the conversation the moment its over, doesnt mean these data mining companies do. They see everything, they know everything, and they keep everything. You would certainly be shocked if you saw even 2 days worth of your history and how revealing each bit of information is about you.
If you buy things from stores im hoping your using cash because otherwise I dont see a difference than buying online. Aside for companies selling your info and habits, they use internet as well. So even if they did want to guard your info they cant since they get hacked just as Chase did several years ago with many accounts private info compromised.
Nothing to worry about if you live like in 1998? As long as you have a smartphone or computer your whole life is being recorded, data wise, audio, video, contacts, family, passwords, habits, lifestlye, work,LOCATION, private conversations etc. the list goes on and on and gets more chilling. Even if you didnt own any of these if you are ever around them theres no escape. It gets pretty obvious when every other day google releases some other product with an embedded camera or microphone which they “forgot” to mention is included in the product.
Long ago people would criticize someone as being a tin foiled hat lunatic, but unfortuantely it is reality. You can check reputable tech sites,CNET etc. Just look at the app permissions which are so irrelevant to the app functionality. The thing is that even if you abandon all these gadgets, the damage is done, its too late. And since its part of our daily use, companies are getting smarter and smarter collecting data with new methods of spying and it all gets saved forever. Im surprised there isnt more uproar about our privacy but people either know they cant do anything or just dont care. A great excuse is “well I dont do anything to make me worried”. Oh really? Do you close the door when you enter the bathroom? Why? You are doing nothing wrong. Well the point is that people want and NEED privacy and anything can be used against you and Im sure people would be shocked how apps and companies and government are recording the most private of conversations in the safety of their own homes. Ever used your phone in the bathroom? Well closing the door wont keep them out anymore. You are never alone. And it only gets worse.
