Its not all that complicated. Live your life in accordance with your view of daas torah (as informed by your local Rav or posek), feel that you have done your best by hashem, your family and community, and most importantly, yourself, and walk into shul for the yamim noraim with humility but confident that you have done all you can to be zocheh for a shanah tovah.
