for 90% of the Gedolim they think long and hard before they put a signature to something, in this case being that the letter was in English and went to the President I am sure they weight all the pros and cons, I am sure if Moshe Margetten would have asked them to sign a letter that the federal government should dictate the secular education to be taught in the yeshivas he would have been shown the door.
