Regarding red string and chamsa and the blue eye, all these anti ayin hara objects are amongst many religions and nations. Red string is used by Indians for the same reason, chamsa is known as hand of fatima to muslims, and the blue eye is also worn as bracelets by many religions. These things are sold in many holy sites across Eretz Yisroel, and the question is how is it so widespread throughout religions? Either there is a Jewish source and everyone followed or if not then how did it come about to be picked up by Judaism when we strictly dont take on customs outside of our religion? And if thats the case then why are these objects sold in these places without anyone educating others if this practice even relates to Judaism? Unless the source is a forgotten Jewish custom and had been adopted by other religions?
