Many over-simplify the situation. I see only one simple rule – there are no general rules. sometimes Jews wear same as others (Polish medieval garb, Sephardim in Arab countries), maybe excluding red color and other inappropriate things (Gemora times, later Polish time Vaad forbidding too much jewelry), sometimes Jews insisting on a different dress, sometimes non-Jews forcing Jews to wear different dress, or sometimes same dress. All, mostly depending on relationships to the outside world and mutual attitudes.
