If you want a real head scratcher, take this one out for a spin (it was an issue some 20 years ago). The Rama says that to see if a bird is not kosher, put it on a wire. If it puts two “toes” on one side and two on the other, it’s not kosher. Apparently, modern chickens are bred to be so fat that they stick two toes behind them for extra balance.
