There is a Zohar from Parshas Emor that specifically states the reasons as to why one is supposed to be buried within 24 hours. One can read this Zohar in any Chok, Day one of Parshas Emor. I am not sure, but nowhere does it say that you should wait so that more people should be able to attend the Levaya. If it could be done before the Zman, it should be done right away.
