“if women were given a choice of having their husband go on frequent business trips to mixed conventions where the women will be dressed to kill, or to send their husband once a year to uman for Rosh Hashana, I think most would choose this..”
What about the husbands who stay home and whose wives have to go to business meetings that will include guys dressed like a bunch of shlumps??? I’m not sure what you point is and doubt you do either. Normal men and women go on “business trips” because its part of their professional obligations and earning a parnassah to support their families. As a factual matter, not all professions require travel and even those that do have found much less need in a post-Covid world. Our clients have increasingly discovered its really not cost-effective to pay us to travel for hours each way to their offices for a brief meeting. Likewise for most non-billable “conference” travel which most firms will not allow in “business class” any longer.
Traveling to kever tzadikim is a totally discretionary decision linked to one’s hashkafah and has nothing to do with business travel. In neither case, however, are men or women making trip to engage in some kind of prtizus or engage with members of the opposite sex.
