I’m assuming that you’re referring to the fact that once they went to Lithuania, technically it was the Russians that they were worried about.
But the reality is that mir was destroyed by the Nazis. So their whole reason for going to Lithuania was running away from the Nazis. And ultimately Lithuania was also destroyed by the Nazis. So aren’t you splitting hairs?
