Short answer. DON”T store any leather products in a car on a hot day. Period. Full Stop. And putting them in a cooler with ice is even more problematic. It may be ok for short stops (e.g an hour or so) but otherwise, keep them with you or leave them in the beis medrash, shul or home when you finish davening.
