@daniela, You are correct, I should have said “closest to” correct Torah values. The things that were taught to me as Torah values are a perversion of the faith.
I do not think you are a troll. It’s not that I shouldn’t have gone, there’s certainly an arguement for that, it’s the way it was expressed. I was never taught Jews shouldn’t physically enter a church so this is the first time I’m hearing this rule; I wasn’t intentionally breaking it. For a time I was sent to school in a church.
The tough situation is not the choice of attending one friends wedding or not. That’s one event. It is the constant daily choices with no option for the correct choice and the atmosphere I’m surrounded by.
You wrote, “Of course we learn from everybody, including non jews and non religious jews.”
But in my case nonJews & non-religious Jews were all I had to learn from as I was intentionally kept away from frum Jews so that they would not teach me anything.
The apikorsim are sadly much much more learned than I, but since Torah conflicts with their modern liberal values (feminism, etc.) and they lack faith in hashem and or actively oppose core religious principles, and they insist on spreading their blasphemy to other Jews, I don’t think I can guide them anywhere. Ive nudged, but they are too far gone.
Thankfully I’ve found my way out but unfortunately it will destroy a lot of lives in the process. Perhaps it’s their own fault for straying so far from the path, but it doesn’t feel good and there are certainly innocent parties involved.
