To Square Root,
1) This is a coffee room. We are not writing a book where we would need footnotes with “precise Torah sources”. If Bael Tshuva did not get an exact match, we should give him the benefit of the doubt and not judge him harshly. He is trying to create Achdus. Maybe he is reading an English translation.

2) Not all Ba’alei Tshuva are “orphans”.. Yes, a lot of us had to separate from our biological families in order to keep the Mitzvos. But for some of us, the opposite happened. A general rule is that if the relationship was good before tshuva, it will be improved and strengthened by the mitzvos. Where the relationship was bad before tshuva, keeping mitzvos can effectively make the Ba’al Tshuva into an orphan.. If Bael Tshuva is in the latter category, we need to be especially careful not to hurt him.

3) Do you really want to start defining terms like “ridiculous” and “low quality”? What possible Toelles was there in that remark? Do you want to get him thrown out of the CR? Think for a moment about when you thought you were part of a group of people, and then it turns out that they don’t want you around.

4) I don’t suppose I need to give you any references about being Dan L’Kaf Zechus. Sounds like you are quite intelligent and scholarly and hold yourself to high standards. To publicly accuse Bael Tshuva of making fun of Ba’alei Tshuva would be impossible if you keep in mind that speaking or writing Lashon Hara is a Lav. From the Torah’s perspective, it is the same as eating a piece of pork.
I don’t have a source for this next statement. Feel free to discard it. In Ohr Sameach, I asked why there were constant blood libels against the Jews. (The Hamas charter explicitly calls for the murder of all Jews worldwide, yet they get away with accusing Israel of genocide. ) They told me that it is Hashem trying to show the Jews how disgusting it is to make false accusations by letting us feel the pain of the falsely accused victim. May we all be zoche to have Hashem judge us favorably.

And so, I am going to assume that your comments were intended to protect the CR from trolls which might be a mitzvah. As they say in the secular world, “My you be inscribed in the Book of Life.”
