I agree with most of what you wrote. Just keep in mind that one doesn’t have to charge by the hour. It’s perfectly legit (and more profitable) to charge by the job. I’ll give you an example. There was (maybe still is) a guy named Skip. When Diebold had vaults their techs couldn’t open they would fly him in to take care of it. He would obviously charge them based on the value he is bringing to the table not based on an hourly rate and expenses. His rate would be limited by the cost of alternative methods of opening and repairing the vault.
