My argument isn’t that the achohlic or whatever the addiction is can control themselves. My argument is simply, that I am not convinced they are doing it because of low self esteem or some underlying cause. They start doing it because its fun. Then once its fun it drags a person and can be addictive. Similarly is every OTD child acting out because of a low self esteem? Or simply bec its fun to smoke and hang out? Why can’t we just say its a big world and tavos have a way to drag people? In a very simple manner, say you are on a diet but hanging out by a kiddish with delcious food and you don’t eat before shachris, chances are you’ll eat by that kiddush even though you shouldn’t.
