It appears to me that a kid CAN be turned off by hypocrisy yet have the best home environment. All one can do in such a case is keep on doing what s/he is, and the child who goes off may well have respect for their parents and what they stand for, and a loving relationship, especially if the child has felt that his/her parents have always tried to act in their children’s best interests.
