Mazal, that story was beautiful, and your conclusions so true. And YET, we do have to do some hishtadlus. We have obligations now that others didn’t. In the past, if a person couldn’t provide for his family, they did without. But now there is tuition, insurance, rent/mortgage, etc. I’m not romanticizing the past.
