feivel, ames, Joseph, others: I understand your position. Mr. Bush was indeed a man of rare integrity (for a politician) and he did indeed restore the White House from its status as a house of ill-repute. He was a man of conviction who appeared to always want to do the right thing. But I cannot think of a single thing that he did that was right, so despite his character and despite his integrity, I declare his presidency a disaster.
I’d be pleased to have him as a neighbor, and I’d probably be willing to lend him my car keys. But he should never have been in charge of anything more important than ordering dinner at a restaurant.
Anyway, never mind my opinion, because empirical facts show the damage that occurred during these past 8 years. Even those who refuse to see his faults will have to admit at some point that his strategery is what got us so deep into the mess we now find ourselves in.
