All I can say is DAVEN. Japan does not like drugs or the people who bring them in. The Dept of Justice and the police don’t like to arrest people without an airtight case (that doesn’t mean that they are guilty, just that they were sure they would find drugs on them). There is no violence or torture. They are not in posh US-style jails and they don’t have any amenities. Japan wants each prisoner to repent for their crime.
