Joseph, did you ever see the mechitza in Lincoln Square Synagogue? Additionally, the Rav zt”l did not strenuously object to his talmidim taking a schul without a mechitza, so long as the understanding was that the rabbi would work toward implementing one and his remaining there would be reviewed on a periodic basis. As regards Coed school, the Maimonides School he founded in Boston is and always was coed.
